Title: Evaluating Runtime Strategies for (Intuitionistic) Session-Typed Actors This talk presents part of my work on developing and implementing a session-typed actor language, where communication between actors is structured and verified using intuitionistic session types. The implementation targets Elixir, and I am currently exploring three different runtime schemes for executing the language. Although all three schemes compile to the same target language, they make different choices about how messages are handled and redirected, and how actors behave at runtime, leading to different performance costs. I will present a set of initial benchmarks intended to expose these trade-offs and compare the schemes using different performance metrics. Rather than identifying a single best implementation, the goal is to understand the costs and benefits of each strategy, where each performs well, and whether the proposed evaluation provides convincing evidence for these trade-offs.
